MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF HARWICH TOWN COUNCIL PLANNING COMMITTEE
HELD ON 27th JANUARY 2010 at 6.30pm
at THE 1912 CENTRE, COW LANE, HARWICH

Present: Councillor B Brown in the Chair

Also present: 1 member of the press and 3 members of the public

Mrs B Holbrook asked if Harwich Town Council could contact the developers/owners of the land opposite Treo’s, George Street requesting a tidy-up of the site. The Council agreed that a letter be sent to the Enforcement Officer at Tendring District Council regarding this matter.

P61/09 APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE
Apologies for absence were received from Councillors Burke, Gardner, Howlett and Payne

P62/09 DECLARATIONS OF MEMBERS’ INTERESTS
Councillor L Double declared a personal and prejudicial interest in Planning Application 10/00008/FUL.

P63/09 MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING
RESOLVED: that the minutes of the meeting held on 9th December 2009 (previously circulated) be approved by the Chairman and signed as a true record.

P64/09 PLANNING APPLICATIONS
The Committee considered a schedule of planning applications for weeks ending 8th January and 15th January 2010.
RESOLVED: that the recommendations of Appendix ‘A’ are submitted to Tendring District Council.

P65/09 ORWELL TERRACE
Councillor Tyrer informed members of the dangerous condition of the former Convent site situated at the top end of Orwell Terrace.
RESOLVED: to request the Enforcement Officer at Tendring District Council to investigate and
report back to the Council. The Council further RESOLVED: to invite the Enforcement Officer at
Tendring District Council to give a presentation on enforcement, at the next Council Meeting scheduled on 17th February 2010.

P66/09 DON THOMPSON HOUSE, DOVERCOURT
The Chairman informed members that he and Councillor Burke had attended a presentation of the proposed extensions at Don Thompson House and a copy of the plans were available. The Clerk was instructed to seek advice from the Monitoring Officer at Tendring District Council to ascertain whether individual councillors, who attended presentations of proposed planning applications from developers, should declare a Prejudicial Interest.

P67/09 DATE OF THE NEXT MEETING
The next meeting of the Town Planning Committee will be held at 6.30pm on 17th February 2010 at The 1912 Centre, Harwich.

The Chairman closed the meeting at 6.55pm
