G16/10 APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE
Apologies for absence were received from Councillors Gardner and
Howlett.
G17/10 DECLARATIONS OF MEMBERS’ INTERESTS
None
G18/10 MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETINGS
RESOLVED: that the minutes of the meeting held on 22nd September 2010 (previously circulated) be approved by the Chairman and signed as a true record.
G19/10 GUILDHALL FEASIBILITY STUDY
Further to Minutes G06/10, the Chairman informed members that the feasibility report has been received from Ingleton Wood. The Chairman confirmed that the report gave an estimated cost of £156,989.83 to provide a disabled access to the first floor of the Guildhall. The Committee
RESOLVED: that a full copy of the report be send to all members of the Guildhall Committee and for the Clerk to monitor the response, if everyone agreed then this would be submitted to the Finance and General Purposes Committee but should only one be negative, then another meeting would be called. It was FURTHER RESOLVED: to inform the Chair of Finance and General Purposes Committee of the decision taken at this meeting.
G20/10 BADGE FOR PAST MAYORS
Further to Minute G11/10, the Clerk informed the Committee that responses received from Fattorini and Vaugtons could not provide a quotation without copy of the Harwich Town Council crest and a
provisional design. Councillor Double informed members that the idea has been explored before and that a file containing the relevant information is held at the Guildhall. RESOLVED: for the Clerk to investigate and obtain costings.
G21/10 GUILDHALL – EXHIBITION DATES FOR 2011
The Committee noted the following exhibition dates of the Guildhall open days in 2011.
- Harwich Festival weekends – 2/3 July and 9/10 July 2011
- Heritage Weekend – 10/11 September 2011
- Electric Palace Centenary – 29 November 2011
G22/10 PORTRAIT OF COUNCILLOR W BLEAKLEY (DECEASED)
The Committee noted a letter of thanks from Mrs Molly Bleakley for returning her late husband’s portrait who was the High Steward of Harwich for 25 years.
G23/10 MR C STRACHAN’S TRIP TO WASHINGTON DC
The Committee noted a report of Mr C Strachan’s recent visit to Washington DC.
G25/10 GUILDHALL BUDGET FOR MUNICIPAL YEAR 2011-2012
RESOLVED: to recommend Budget for Municipal Year 2011-2012
INCOME
Caretakers Heating/Water Contribution £440
EXPENDITURE
General Fund (caviat to increase as necessary) £1000
Maintenance Reserve (plus transfer any underspend) £1500
The Chairman closed the meeting at 6.55pm
