Election of a Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex Police Area

  1. An election is to be held for a Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for the Essex Police
    Area.
  2. Forms of nomination may be obtained from the office of the Police Area Returning Officer, Rowan House, 33 Sheepen Road, Colchester, CO3 3WG, during the times stated below.
  3. Nomination papers must be delivered to the Police Area Returning Officer at Rowan House, 33 Sheepen Road, Colchester, CO3 3WG on any working day after the date of this notice, on Mondays to Fridays between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. (excluding bank holidays) but no later than 4 p.m. on Thursday, 8th April 2021.
  4. A deposit of £5,000 must be paid for each candidate by either legal tender, banker’s draft from a bank which carries on business in the United Kingdom or electronic bank transfer.
  5. If the election is contested the poll will take place on Thursday, 6th May 2021.
  6. Applications for registration as an elector must reach the Electoral Registration Officer for the relevant electoral area (i.e. the local authority area) in which the elector is normally resident by midnight on Monday 19 April 2021. Applications can also be made online https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote
  7. Applications, amendments or cancellations of postal votes and amendments or cancellations of proxy votes must reach the Electoral Registration Officer for the relevant electoral area (i.e. the local authority area) where the elector is registered to vote by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, 20th April 2021.
  8. New applications to vote by proxy at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer for the relevant electoral area (i.e. the local authority area) where the elector is registered to vote by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, 27th April 2021.
  9. Applications to vote by emergency proxy at this election on the grounds of physical incapacity or for work/service reasons must reach the Electoral Registration Officer for the relevant electoral area (i.e. the local authority area) where the elector is registered to vote by 5 p.m. on Thursday, 6th May 2021. The physical incapacity must have occurred after 5 p.m. on Tuesday 27 April 2021. To apply on the grounds of work/service, the person must have become aware after 5 p.m. on Tuesday 27 April 2021 that they would not be able to go to the polling station in person.
  10.
