Careline Safety Kit for Vunerable People

CARELINE TEAMS UP WITH LOCAL DEVELOPER AND LOCAL CARE SERVICE TO OFFER NEW SAFETY KIT FOR VULNERABLE PEOPLE

A watch which allows the wearer to call for help if they have a fall is being offered by Tendring Careline.

Careline, a service run by Tendring District Council (TDC), has teamed up with the device’s creator, Davide Gasparin from Harwich, to offer it to customers.

The HAI 4 Alarm Watch is worn on the wrist and contains a mobile sim, so the wearer can contact Careline whenever and wherever they have a problem.

As well as a GPS locating device allowing Careline to find the wearer, activated when a discreet emergency button is pushed, operators can also have a two-way conversation with the customer and send appropriate help to wherever they may be.

Mr Gasparin developed it after a personal experience, and the watch is just one of a number of wearable devices he has created.

Jean Allen, owner of Home Instead Frinton, was among the first to take delivery of a HAI 4 – and as well as using one herself will be promoting the service to her own clients.

Although the businesswoman runs her own company, following a recent accident she has become less sure of her footing on rough ground and knowing how comforting it can be to be able to call for help at any time.

“I still want to be able to go out and tend to my vegetable patch when I want without having to worry,” Jean said

“Previously if I had had a fall in my garden I might have lain there for days. Now I know I can easily summon help.”

Cllr Joy Broderick, TDC Cabinet Member for Independent Living, said: “It is great to see Careline working with two local companies in order to keep people safe, particularly those that need help the most.

“This watch is exactly the type of technology that we should be championing. We all need a bit of help as we get older.”
