MINUTES of the Meeting of the HILL SCHOOL SUB-COMMITTEE
held at The Guildhall, Church Street, Harwich
on Monday 22nd October 2012 commencing at 6pm

H15/12 MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING
RESOLVED that the minutes of the Hill School Sub Committee meeting held on 10th September 2012 (previously circulated) be approved by the Committee and signed by the Chairman as a true record.

H16/12 MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES
None

H17/12 MAGISTRATES COURT CLOSURE
The Clerk confirmed that the pathway and ramp were now complete and Rose Builders were arranging to place hoods on the low level lights as some neighbours had expressed concerns. Members were pleased with the flexibility offered by the Ministry of Justice regarding an extension of access across their land and reviewed the new temporary license.
RESOLVED: To accept the temporary licence issued by HMCTS. Clerk to sign and return on behalf of Harwich Town Council.

H18/12 TRANSFER OF LAND
Members reviewed correspondence received from DAC Beachcroft LLP which included a draft transfer of land on the Hill School site. Clerk confirmed that the verbal quotation received from Ellisons to carry out this work would be in the region of £700 – £800.
RESOLVED: Clerk to obtain competitive quotes and proceed with transfer of land with most competitive firm.

H19/12 OWNERSHIP OF MANOR LANE AND ACCESS RIGHTS
Members discussed the benefits of obtaining confirmation of ownership for Manor Lane.
RESOLVED: Clerk to request solicitors to apply for land registry searches to determine ownership of Manor Lane.

H20/12 OVERGROWN SHRUBS AND TREES CLOSE TO BOUNDARIES OF NEIGHBOURING PROPERTIES
The three quotations received from local contractors were reviewed and discussed. Members felt it was necessary to proceed with reducing the tree and shrubbery in the area to the rear of 9 Highfield Avenue although additional clearance along the rest of the boundary was not necessary at the present time.
RESOLVED: To instruct TDC to carry out work and update Finance & General Purposes Committee.
