Christmas Craft Event – Harwich Maritime Museum

November 21, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

The Harwich Society volunteers who staff Harwich’s Maritime Museum will be opening the museum out of season to provide a Christmas seasonal opportunity for those interested in making their own Christmas cards.

Christmas cards can be expensive for those struggling with the cost of living crisis and these workshops will show how to make cheap Christmas cards, each participant ending up with five Christmas cards to take home free of charge and the knowledge of how to make more.

The curator of the Maritime Museum, John Goodchild, says, “All of the materials will be provided free of charge and there is no charge for the workshop.  The idea is to use the museum as a venue for creating cheap Christmas cards and we hope that it will prove a popular opportunity.”

The workshop will cater for around ten people.  Tea and coffee will be provided on arrival and it is hoped that this will be a useful and enjoyable event at Harwich’s Maritime Museum at a time when it would usually be shut for the winter.

The card making sessions will be led by Maritime Museum volunteer, Catherine Ovens, who hopes that this will be a useful and fun start to Christmas.

Catherine Ovens says, “It’s amazing what can be achieved very cheaply and there is always something special about something you have made yourself.  It will be lovely to bring a bit of Christmas to Harwich’s Maritime Museum.”

In order to book a place on one of the workshops please contact John Goodchild on 07760 184152
