NOT TOO LATE TO COMPLETE YOUR CENSUS
Tendring residents are being reminded that it is not too late to complete their census.
Census 2021 co-ordinators are thanking those who have responded so well over the past few weeks.
Participation will help to ensure the district gets the funding and resources it needs to provide vital services to the community – whether that is GP surgeries, care home places, schools, transport links or cultural activities – all of which use census data to help decide what is needed and where investment needs to be made.
Although Census Day was on 21 March, it is not too late to complete your questionnaire. If you have lost your code or need help, just go to www.census.gov.uk or call free on 0800 141 2021.
You can also request a paper questionnaire, or even complete it verbally over the phone. If you prefer, you can contact the local Census Support Centre on 0345 603 7638 for phone support or to make an appointment for in-person assistance.
Lisa Hastings, Deputy Chief Executive at Tendring District Council, said: “Census is about us – all of us in Tendring and beyond. Make sure that you make your contribution by filling in your census questionnaire as soon as possible – it only takes a few minutes.
“Don’t forget you may also need to complete a form for a second address – if for example the Covid-19 pandemic has changed where you are currently living, or for an empty or second home too.”
Students should complete a form for their usual term-time address, even if they were not there on census day, and for their home address too if they were present.
Personal census data is kept securely for 100 years. No individual or their responses can be identified in the statistics published, and personal information cannot be seen by anyone who makes decisions about you. It cannot be used by government to influence benefit claims, a residency application, immigration status or taxes, or by landlords or any other private organisation.
