How does £10,000 of energy efficient home improvements sound?
The Green Homes Grant Local Authority Delivery Scheme is here to help make your home warmer and more energy efficient.
It’s available to homeowners in Essex with:
- a household income of less than £30,000
- a low home Energy Performance Certificate rating (D, E, F or G)
If your household income is less than £20,000 per year after mortgage or rent and council tax, you may still be eligible. Evidence of income and household costs will be required to progress the application.

What’s included
The scheme covers:
- insulation
- heating, excluding gas and oil boilers
- heating controls
- hot water systems
- ventilation
- solar thermal
- solar PV
- lighting
Who’s eligible for the scheme
Homeowners in Essex
You need to own your home, however, if you live in rented accommodation funding is also available for your landlord.
Homes with a low home energy rating
To qualify, your Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating will need to be D, E, F or G. You can check your EPC rating.
Households with an income below £30,000
To qualify, your joint household income needs to be below £30,000. You may also qualify if you have a member of the household receiving an eligible benefit, including:
- Armed Forces Independence Payment
- Attendance Allowance
- Carer’s Allowance
- Child Tax Credit
- Constant Attendance Allowance
- Disability Living Allowance
- Guaranteed Pension Credit
- income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
- income-related Employment and Support Allowance
- Income Support
- Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit
- Personal Independence Payment
- Severe Disablement Allowance
- Universal Credit
- War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement
- Working Tax Credit
Landlords
Funding is also available for private landlords, local authority-owned properties and social housing. However, a 33% contribution from the landlord is required and the maximum funding per property is £5,000.
