Dear Mr Prystaiko

As the Mayor of Harwich, I have been asked by Harwich Town Council to write to you to express the support of the residents of Harwich and Dovercourt to the people of Ukraine at this time of appalling conflict resulting from Russia’s invasion of your country.

The scenes of remarkable strength, determination and fortitude that we are witnessing as the people of Ukraine defend their homeland against an illegal and unprovoked invasion by the forces of Russia are both humbling and inspiring and the tragedy of the situation is creating a feeling of immense sadness and great anger.

The dignity with which those Ukrainians in position of influence and authority are leading Ukraine is a credit to you all and we offer our hopes, thoughts and prayers that Ukraine will very soon be free from invading forces and, once again, will flourish as a peaceful democracy.
