F058/11 MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING
RESOLVED that the minutes of the Finance and General Purposes meeting held on 6th March 2012 (previously circulated) be approved by the Committee and signed by the Chairman as a true record.
FURTHER RESOLVED that the confidential minutes of the Finance and General Purposes meeting held on 6th March 2012 (previously circulated) be approved by the Committee and signed by the Chairman as a true record.

F059/11 HARWICH RESIDENTS’ ASSOCIATION
Members discussed a request for grant funding as a contribution to the costs incurred in holding a street party in commemoration of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. RESOLVED: to grant s.137 funding of £200.

F060/11 DATE OF NEXT MEETING
The next meeting of the Finance and General Purposes Committee will be held on Tuesday 26 June 2012, at The Guildhall, Church Street, Harwich at 7pm.

F061/11 EXCLUSION OF THE PRESS AND PUBLIC
Pursuant to Sub-section 2 of Section 1 of the Public Bodies (Admission to Meetings) Act 1960 the meeting was closed to the press and public for the transaction of the under-mentioned business:

  • Permanency of Assistant Clerk.
  • Application for Clerk’s maternity leave and cover during period of leave.

F062/11 ASSISTANT CLERK’S PERMANENCY
Members considered a report from the Clerk in relation to recommendations to confirm the Assistant Clerk’s permanency following a 6-month period of probation. RESOLVED: to confirm the Assistant Clerk’s position now be considered permanent.

F063/11 CLERK’S MATERNITY LEAVE APPLICATION AND COVER
Members discussed an application from the Clerk for Statutory and Occupational Maternity Leave. RESOLVED: unanimously to accept application in its entirety.

Members also discussed a proposal put forward by the Clerk in terms of arrangements for her cover during her leave.
RESOLVED: to accept the proposal and proceed with arrangements to recruitment a temporary Assistant Clerk.
